advanced musical improv
|
You've been introduced to the basics of musical improv, and now you want more, more, more musical improv magic! In Advanced Musical Improv, students will build on basic musical improv skills, extending into longer form musical theater scenework. We'll explore the connection between emotion and music, learn more advanced song structures, and start working with the building blocks of Broadway-style narrative musicals. As the Bard might have said if he'd been a musical improviser, "If music be the food of happiness, play on!"
First Saturday of each month, 1-4pm
November 2
December 7
January 4
Prerequisite: Intro to Musical Improv
or permission from HVC leadership
About Your Teacher:
Jeff Kimball is the Music Director of The Understudies here at HVC, and has been teaching and performing musical improv across the Northeast since sometime in the previous millennium. He has MD'd for a wide variety of resident casts, indie teams, and other shows, in addition to music theatre. He is the co-founder of the Treehouse Collective, an ensemble-based theatre company committed to producing infrequently performed projects. If you play your cards right, you might see him playing banjo and accordion unironically in public.
Fine Print!
*Please note that once you make your purchase, your place in the class is NON-REFUNDABLE unless we have 48 hours notice before first class AND we can get someone to fill your spot.
*Students must be 18+ years. (In actual years, not maturity. ;)
*Our classes may involve physical activity and we could be on our feet for at least an hour; however, we're able to accommodate for all physical abilities. Please let email us to let us know how we can best fit your needs or if you have any questions about accommodations.
