finding your authentic voice

In your work as a therapist, the stakes feel pretty high to “get it right.” And yet…we’re all fallible humans doing the best we can. Improv provides a useful blueprint for navigating life by accepting the reality of the moment so we can move forward together with peace and ease. The act of skillfully stepping into the unknown requires loosening the grip of imposter syndrome and perfectionism. With equal parts wisdom and humor, Happier Valley Comedy's Head of Happiness Pam Victor and independently-licensed therapist and improv student Nichole Wofford offer simple, effective tools to quiet internal messages of fear and self-judgment, so you can bring your full intelligence, capabilities, and authenticity to the important work you do with clients.
Using easy-to-learn improv-enriched exercises and guided discussions, you'll get hands-on experience in how to quiet the inner critic, reframe challenges, and disempower perceived failure that inhibits progress at work. If you hear "improv" and think "Eek!", fear not. Pam and Nichole specialize in making sure all people along the introvert-extrovert spectrum feel comfy, successful, and have a blast learning and growing together.
This workshop also provides you with opportunities to engage with other mental healthcare providers at various stages in the profession, so you can benefit from the critical support provided by intentional, meaningful, and joyful connection. This engaging and fun interactive professional development event is designed to boost the resilience, connection, and authenticity of mental healthcare providers looking to navigate the future with more ease and peace.
CEU credits may be available for this workshop. While we’re not pre-approved continuing education credit providers, therapist-students have successfully received credit in the past for our workshops and courses. We can provide a letter on letterhead with the information necessary for you to apply for credit. Email Pam for more information.

Please note: This is not clinical supervision; it's an opportunity to work on yourselves in order to better show up for clients. It is also not an improv or play-based workshop; it's an invitation to learn an improviser's approach to workplace skills-building using simple improv-enriched (not scary) exercises designed to put the learning into laughter-filled practice. All exercises are voluntary and take place in a circle, small group, or pairs; participants are never “on stage.” Together, we’ll use the tenets of improv to bolster your skills as a mental health provider … and have some fun in the process!

Nichole is currently practicing for her first upcoming stage performance with her group, Seriously?!? this summer, and is one of the co-facilitators of the Saturday morning BIPOC playdates. Nichole is also interested in ways that improv can IMPROV(E) the health and wellness of others, as fun and laughter do wonders for the nervous system. In her spare time, Nichole loves to travel, play Afro-Cuban drums, spend time with her partner, Megan, and walk in the woods with her dog, Sadie.

Appreciation from our students:
"I was really blown away by how profound the lessons of improv actually are. I assumed it was about trying to be fast and funny and witty. I learned that it's about really paying attention, accepting what others are doing and trying to help them succeed."
"Pam shines her refreshing light onto her participants and leads with honesty and openness conveying that she is well studied in mindfulness and in this happiness space but is also a student who joins participants in the journey and experiment too." |

"Pam is a skilled improv teacher who brings depth and breadth to her workshops. She helps walk us through assumptions, misperceptions and judgment and helps us land in openness, insight, laughter and greater ‘ease fullness’ Highly recommend."
