Improvisers, this is your chance to level up your performance skills with prolific actor, singer, professor, and TV host Alika Hope!
This three-hour workshop introduces improvisers to foundational acting tools. Participants will explore how to bring their natural spontaneity into more structured, emotionally grounded acting work, using both improvisational exercises and short scripted scenes.
By the end of this workshop, participants will:
• Understand and apply core acting concepts such as Given Circumstances, Objective, Obstacle, and Tactics.
• Experience the difference between improvising freely and living truthfully within structured text.
• Develop emotional availability, listening skills, and authentic connection with scene partners.
• Practice working with short scenes to explore text-based acting.
Prerequisite: Currently enrolled in or completed Improv 4

About Your Teacher: Alika Hope is a woman whose soul soars in the heavens with feet grounded solidly on earth…sometimes. Select Regional Credits: Margaret Garner (Opera Company of Philadelphia, Cincinnati Opera), Intimate Apparel (New Century Theatre), Good People (New Century Theatre), Treemonisha (Natchez Opera). Select NYC credits: Philomel, Master Class, Pajama Game. Midsummer Night’s Dream, Once on This Island, Showboat. Currently Host of New England Perspective TV (Fox-61), and a Full-Time Professor in the Arts Division at Wagner College. Community Engagement work: Founder of The Ray of Hope Project, using music and spoken word to amplify under-heard voices across the US. University of Notre Dame (BA); Columbia University (MA); Cornell University (post-grad). Awards/proudest achievements: Ms. New England America 2019, Gold Global Music Award, Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award, being mom to E and G. Final word: Hope is a Verb.
