Long form SceneWork
|
Ready to take your scenes to the next level? In Long Form Scenework, we'll learn a whole toolbox of key concepts and skills that propel you into fun, successful scenework, including game of the scene, emotional mapping, heightening, environment and object work, and discovering characters.
Long Form Scenework is the first step for new Advanced Improv students as well as a terrific class for more experienced students to retake again (and again!) in order to bolster and polish their own performance. This class is a prerequisite for most Advanced Long Form offerings, including Ensemble and format classes.
Long Form Scenework is generally offered every session but with different teachers. This class will always tackle the same skills but with different approaches and exercises!

praise for long form scenework
"...a helpful class for even experienced improvisers. You relearn skills and lessons you may have forgotten and you have an opportunity to see yourself in a new way. If you allow yourself to open your mind and challenge your usual way of doing improv, you can take yourself to a new level." |
"In real life, you repeat a class if you fail. In improv life, you can repeat a class just to have more fun! [Long Form Scenework] is one of those classes that you could take it again and again, layering your developing skills and playing with a new grouping of people each time. It is a core course for practicing small scenes, working with environment, working with characters and emotion, and doing object work. And it’s just plain fun!" |
*Happier Valley Comedy rents land that was stolen from Indigenous people, including the Pocumtuc and Nipmuc tribes. A land acknowledgement is not appropriate or adequate to address this injustice that continues to harm people today. Therefore, we have instituted an ongoing process of contributing to the preservation of the lands and cultures of Northeastern Indigenous Peoples. All class fees contain an additional $3 to benefit The Nolumbeka Project, a local nonprofit whose mission is dedicated to these goals.
