Hey, you! Yeah, we're talking to you busy cats juggling work, home, and social lives with barely a moment to poop in peace. Here you are between the intensity of the September back-to-school energy and the coming holiday season; even if you aren't on a school schedule or don't make a big deal about the holidays, the busy busy busy energy in the air impacts your nervous systems. So let's get together to take a couple hours to slow the f*ck down through mindfulness, meditation, and play, so you can rejoin the swirl of life with more calm energy, resilience, and equanimity.

In this one-time workshop, Happier Valley Comedy founder Pam Victor guides you on a joyful and heartful experience of mindfulness through an improviser's lens, so you can refill your energy and positivity tanks and practice finding peace even amid the busy-ness of life. We'll explore this theme through easy-to-learn improv games, guided meditation, and connection-enriching discussion. In individual and shared experiences, we'll work on slowing down even when life moves fast, so you'll leave with more tools, more practice, and feeling more connected with yourself and others
... and hopefully a big smile too!

No previous experience in improv or mindfulness expected.
Beginners are welcome and supported.

Let's spend some thoughtful and fun time together
enjoying the places where mindfulness and improv meet!
"The most impactful, heart centered, and fun mindfulness class I have ever taken.  I feel more grateful, more awake and more grounded in my life and my work as a result.  And Pam Victor is one of the best teachers I have ever had in my 54 years of life."

- Sarah Getoff
"It was an awesome chance to explore more thoroughly the meditative and spiritual threads of Improv that were already coming up in my other HVC classes."

-Megan M.
"If you’re looking for the key to a happier and more joyful life, sign up for a class with Happier Valley Comedy and play with Pam and her wonderful inclusive staff! I can feel my soul opening up as I practice and embrace more moments of playfulness and mindfulness."

-Angélica Castro
Note: Though we'll play 3-4 improv games to practice mindfulness, this is not an improv class.

(If you'd rather take a straight improv class, check out this page :-)

No previous experience with meditation, mindfulness, or improv comedy expected.
This class is designed for wherever you fall on the introvert-extrovert spectrum
.
Activities can be adapted to practice sitting, standing, or lying down. (No need to be able to sit cross-legged on the floor or do bendy things with your body...unless that brings you joy!)

a peek into A typical Workshop

  • Invitation to take 5 Good Breaths and practice gratitude
  • Facilitated group discussion of the theme
  • Guided meditation (about 15 minutes)
  • 3-4 mindfulness-enhancing improv exercises as playful practice of the theme
  • Closing with a whole-group lovingkindness-inspired exercise and 5 Good Breaths

though this course is entirely secular, the material - like all of mindfulness practice - derives from buddhist and hindu traditions and is based on Zen, Vipassanā, and Tibetan meditation techniques. we honor and are grateful for the wisdom of the teachers who have come before us.

Appreciation from our students:

"I was really blown away by how profound the lessons of improv actually are.  I assumed it was about trying to be fast and funny and witty.  I learned that it's about really paying attention,  accepting what others are doing and trying to help them succeed."
"Pam shines her refreshing light onto her participants and leads with honesty and openness conveying that she is well studied in mindfulness and in this happiness space but is also a student who joins participants in the journey and experiment too."

"Improv is truly changing my life for the better. I am immensely grateful for all you do."
"Pam is a skilled improv teacher who brings depth and breadth to her workshops. She helps walk us through assumptions, misperceptions and judgment and helps us land in openness, insight, laughter and greater ‘ease fullness’ Highly recommend."
