StoryCraft: A Taste
|
We all have stories that want to be heard and told. Come learn how to tell yours!
In this three hour workshop, we will cover some basics of true, live, personal storytelling. You will mine your life for stories through theater/story games and prompts. We’ll introduce the components of a great story, how to use language effectively, and how to tell your story with presence and authenticity. Mostly, you will explore and play with the power of story!
About Your Teachers:
Michelle Darby has been facilitating stories through directing, acting, singing, and teaching for almost forty years. She began teaching true, personal narrative storytelling at Stanford University in 2013. Most recently, she has curated and coached stories for WGBH/The World’s “Stories From the Stage” in Boston, MA. Ever since discovering theater in college, Michelle has been passionate about the power of personal stories to transform the teller and the listener.
Mireille Bejjani, a community organizer focused on environmental justice issues, loves weaving storytelling into her work. She took two StoryCraft classes with Michelle Darby on Zoom during the COVID pandemic and was immediately hooked on digging deeper into telling personal stories. She has participated in three Valley Voices shows through New England Public Media (NEPM); shared a story at “Crossroads: Changes in Rural America,” and recorded a short story for an NEPM radio commentary.
