We're trying something new this year and we hope you'll join us!
First off, this is not an audition for Happier Valley Comedy shows. You are not auditioning for Pam, Scott, and Maddy - you are auditioning for (and with!) each other. We're developing several ideas that will create more stage time over the next year, but these new performance opportunities will be for existing teams, mostly who have a proven track record at Community Comedy Night. Teams that are formed organically (rather than being cast by a director from traditional auditions) are often more socially cohesive, play with more chemistry and confidence, and tend to stick around a lot longer. We want to support the development and creation of teams that YOU make.
Therefore, you're invited to attend the first ever Community Auditions & Improv Mixer on Saturday, May 17th at Noon to give you a chance to meet and play with other members of our thriving community. (They're all lovely people!) If you've been to auditions at HVC before, this will look very similar. You'll fill out an online form with your name, contact info, availability, experience, and types of improv you're interested in. We'll call up random groups of about 6 players at a time to do scenes and games. We'll all be the audience for each other. The goal is not to impress "the powers that be," but instead to watch and meet your new potential castmates. Once everyone has performed, we'll bring out some snacks and drinks, hang out at the theater, and give you time to meet, chat, and plan together. The intake form info will be online and shared with everyone who attends auditions. Maybe you'll get invited to a potential team. Maybe you'll be the one who creates your own dream team. Maybe both! Of course, you're welcome to come play just for the experience, even if you're not currently on the prowl for a new team.
