BEING ALL EARS
|
Want to be the best scene partner you can be? Well, listen up! Listening allows us to connect on a deep emotional level, build characters, and have fun. With a focus on games and scenic work that promote listening, Katharine and Christine will coordinate exercises that remind us of the benefits of being all ears, such as connection, presence, and humor. We will work on how attentiveness and trust allow us to be magnificent scene partners. For intermediate and advanced improvisers.
About Your Teachers:
Katharine Daube is the creator and coordinator of HVC’s Sunday Improv Playdate and Improv 2 teacher. She loves the feeling of community and the spirit of foolishness that are found there. She currently performs with The Silver Lining, as well as HVC’s Championship Show and Family Show. She has fallen for improv because of its emphasis on collaboration, risk-taking, and general silliness. In addition to doing improv, Katharine teaches sociology, plays scrabble, and loves an early bedtime.
Christine Mirabal is a longtime improvisor who has studied the art form for almost a decade. She was in the first improv class at HVC and has taken a number of classes and workshops with various teachers. She is currently on the HVC Championship Show cast and has done solo performances as well as shows with local troupes. She has organized improv practice sessions and recently taught silent improv games. She relishes entertaining audiences, being experimental, and just acting plain goofy. Her interests are many including poetry, social activism, art, and travel.
