MOVE IT!
|
One of the quickest ways to stop overthinking your scene is to move your body. Scenes that come from an authentic emotional place are fun to watch and thrilling to perform. If you love to tap into your physicality, you will love this class. If you DON'T love moving or don't feel comfortable being physical on stage, this class is especially for you!
In this class, you will learn new tools and techniques and practice using them in a safe, supportive environment. Over the course of our eight weeks together we will explore all the ways our physical body can inform our choices and emotions in our scenes. With fun and low risk improv games and exercises, we will physically move ourselves and emotionally move others, shake out the bodies of our characters, stretch our limits of performing, and dance with new ideas. This class will be accessible to all levels of physical ability. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
About Your Teachers:
Kelsey Flynn began her career in improv comedy in 1989 when she was a founding member of Smith College’s improv troupe, the Smith Improv Komedy Organization (SIKOs-pronounced “sickos.”) Over the past 30 years, she has performed in clubs and festivals and studied across the Great Comedy Map of the United States (GCMUS-pronounced ‘gick-moose’) including places like Chicago, New York, Seattle, and Sayre, Pennsylvania. Offstage, Kelsey has steadily plied her trade of comedy across many platforms, including as a morning-show radio host at 100.9 WRNX, and 93.9 WRSI, where she was awarded “Best Local DJ” two years in a row by the Valley Advocate. Kelsey also teaches storytelling standup and Zen 2 at Happier Valley Comedy.
Paul McNeil is lovingly reunited and rerooted here in the valley in Easthampton after 14 years away performing improv comedy with the Royal Berkshire Improv Troupe, standup comedy at Seattle’s “Comedy Underground”, and acting in Tim Mele’s "Who Framed Jesus Christ?", Mamet's "The Water Engine", Moliere's "The Misanthrope", Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing", and Yasmin Rana’s “Blood Sky”. He partners Alysa, fathers Henry, and walks Ruby.
