musical improv weekend intensive
|
You've learned all the building blocks of musical improv; now it's time to put them all together in a weekend-long intensive, and maybe just improvise the next big Broadway hit! We'll focus on long form musical storytelling, building on our existing skills in scene work, song structures, musical parody, and story structure. We'll also study some scripted musicals and learn how to create a satisfying story arc. We'll have plenty of time to get in reps & get comfortable with the big leap into fully improvised musical theater!
Saturday, June 4th, 11am-4pm
Sunday, June 5th, 11am-4pm
And an optional class showcase on Saturday night at 9pm!
Prerequisite: Completion of any Musical Improv class at HVC
or equivalent experience at another theater
(Email us with any prerequisite questions!)
About Your Teacher:
Jeff Kimball is the Music Director of The Understudies here at HVC, a Music Director at ImprovBoston, and has been improvising across the Northeast, both on stage & behind the keyboard, since sometime in the previous millennium. He has MD'd for a wide variety of resident casts, indie teams, and other shows, in addition to music theatre. If you play your cards right, you might see him playing banjo and accordion unironically in public.
Fine Print!
*Please note that once you make your purchase, your place in the class is NON-REFUNDABLE unless we have 48 hours notice before first class AND we can get someone to fill your spot.
*Students must attend at least 2/3 of the classes to graduate to the next level.
*Students must be 18+ years. (In actual years, not maturity. ;)
*Our classes may involve physical activity and we could be on our feet for at least an hour; however, we're able to accommodate for all physical abilities. Please let email us to let us know how we can best fit your needs or if you have any questions about accommodations.
