Step into musical improv
|
Get your first taste of Musical Improv OR refresh your skills after time away with this two-part workshop! Jeff Kimball returns to introduce (or re-introduce) you to the basics of Musical Improv. Spend some time with this challenging practice in a fun and positive environment where every student feels safe taking risks and joyfully getting it wrong.
No matter what your previous musical experience is, you can do Musical Improv!
Over two 3-hour sessions, you'll start to learn the basic building blocks and get a little bit of experience with musical scene work. In the Fall, we are planning to offer a full session of Intro to Musical Improv, which would be your next step after this workshop on the basics.
Prerequisite: Completion of Improv 3
or equivalent experience at another comedy school.
About Your Teacher:
Jeff Kimball is the Music Director of The Understudies here at HVC, a Music Director at ImprovBoston, and has been improvising across the Northeast, both on stage & behind the keyboard, since sometime in the previous millennium. He has MD'd for a wide variety of resident casts, indie teams, and other shows, in addition to music theatre. If you play your cards right, you might see him playing banjo and accordion unironically in public.
Small but Important Details!
*Please note that once you make your purchase, your place in the class is NON-REFUNDABLE
unless we have 48 hours notice before the event AND we can get someone to fill your spot.
*Students must be 18+ years. (In actual years, not maturity. ;)
*Our classes involve physical activity, and we could be on our feet for at least an hour.
If that's an issue, please let your instructor know how we can accommodate the class to fit your needs.
Please email us with any questions about accommodations for ability.
