WHERE do i START?
I am a Beginner at IMPROV: All new students begin with Improv 1. Click here to check out The Joy & Ease of Improv!
I Have Experience with IMPROV: New-to-HVC students of all experience levels begin with Improv 1. HVC has a specific approach to improvisation with a particular vocabulary, and Improv 1 is the place to learn it. (We don't make exceptions to this requirement.) After students complete Improv 1, you may be eligible to skip Improv 2 and go straight to Improv 3 if you are a graduate of all levels at another comedy school and/or you have 1+ years of improv performance experience. Your teacher will help to determine if this path is a good fit once Improv 1 has begun. If you have any questions about our policy, please contact us before registration.
I took the Joy & Ease of Improv One-Day Intensive: Beginning improvisers can take Improv 2 after the Joy & Ease of Improv One-Day Intensive. If you are a graduate of all levels at another comedy school and/or you have 1+ years of improv performance experience, you may be eligible to go straight to Improv 3. Please contact us to determine your next best step for maximum joy and ease.
Then What? After completing Improv 1, you can proceed through the basic curriculum of The Joy & Ease of Improv 2, 3, and 4. After graduating from Improv 4, you are ready to move into Advanced Improv classes. And then, look out world!

I am a Beginner at STORYTELLING/STANDUP: Then you’re perfect for our first level class "Hello, You! An Introduction to Storytelling Standup!" You’ll spend the eight weeks building up trust and confidence in your voice and what you have to say. This program uses improv exercises for skills-development and includes time each week for Hello, You’s own private open mic.
I Have Experience in STORYTELLING/STANDUP: Graduates of all levels at another comedy school's standup department and/or those who have over a year of standup performance experience can sign up for our level two storytelling/standup class "Hello, You, TOO!". If you're still not sure, contact us before registration.

I Just Want a Nibble of Comedy Sign up for our Happier Valley Happenings newsletter below to find out when one-time workshops for various levels of players open for registration.
I am a BIPOC (Black Indigenous Person of Color) Email us if you'd like to use our Equity Price Structure which provides 50 or 100% off all our programming to BIPOC students in order to compensate you for the extra work of navigating a predominantly white space until we reach our diversity goals .
