work exchange program for hvc students
In exchange for discounts on HVC classes,
Work Exchange Volunteers will work 4-5 hours on scheduled Saturday evenings.
Discounts: One week of class equals one Work Exchange shift,
i.e. working 4 shifts would equal a 50% discount on an 8-week class.
During the Summer, one shift equals one Reps class. Discount can be saved for a Fall class if preferred.
Work Exchange opportunities are awarded based on availability and experience.
Volunteers must be available select Saturday evenings during their class session
(including the week before class starts and the make-up week.)
There are a limited amount of volunteer opportunities available each season.
Note: This program is only open to current HVC students;
We do not offer Work Exchange positions to new students who have not taken classes with us before.
Responsibilities include:
House manager
Box Office
Bartender
Though personal preferences are taken into account, volunteers may be assigned any of the tasks above.
(Accommodations can be made for physical abilities.)
Volunteers are expected to give ample advance notice (i.e., 2+ weeks) if they are unable to make their shift. Shifts will be rescheduled for the next available time at the convenience of the theater and availability of the volunteer. Unexcused absences, repeated cancellation of shifts, failure to fulfill contract requirements, and significant difficulty completing assigned responsibilities may result in the student’s Work Exchange being cancelled, the student paying owed funds for their current class to account for unfulfilled work, and being ineligible for future participation in the Work Exchange Program.
Rewards include:
Discounts on HVC classes
Guaranteed registration in your preferred classes
Our gratitude!
