work exchange program for hvc students
In exchange for discounts on HVC classes, volunteers will work scheduled Friday and Saturday evenings during the season of their class.
Generally, each shift is about 3 hours long and gives you credit equal to one week of class. For example, 8 shifts means a free 8-week class! Starting this Fall, we also have some longer 4.5 hour shifts that will give you credit for 2 shifts. Work Exchangers get early registration for their class of choice. They also get to see lots of shows. :)
Work Exchange opportunities are awarded based on availability and experience.
Volunteers must be available for enough Friday or Saturday evenings during their class session
(including 1-2 weeks before and after class starts.)
There are a limited amount of volunteer opportunities available each season.
Note: This program is only open to current HVC students;
We do not offer Work Exchange positions to new students who have not taken classes with us before.
Responsibilities include:
House Manager
Box Office
Volunteers are expected to give ample advance notice (i.e., 2+ weeks) if they are unable to make their shift. Shifts will be rescheduled for the next available time at the convenience of the theater and availability of the volunteer. Unexcused absences, repeated cancellation of shifts, and significant difficulty completing assigned responsibilities may result in the student’s Work Exchange being cancelled, the student paying owed funds for their current class to account for unfulfilled work, and being ineligible for future participation in the Work Exchange Program.
Rewards include:
Discounts on HVC classes
Guaranteed registration in your preferred class
Seeing lots of shows
Our gratitude!
