we're committed to diversity & Inclusion

 The Dream Theater expands our commitment to making Happier Valley Comedy a stronger tool to amplify a more diverse chorus of voices, which includes many currently-running initiatives, such as:
  • Permanent Equity Pricing (50% or 100% off) for all workshops and classes for anyone identifying as a Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color. Equity Pricing is not an assumption of financial need. This price structure is intended as payment for the extra time and energy it takes for BIPOC to navigate predominantly white spaces within the systemic racism of our country, even as we work to dismantle it.
  • All BIPOC teachers and cast members are paid 50% more than white teachers and cast members for the same reasons.
  • The Free Happiness Program, which regularly provides "pro bono" shows and professional development trainings to under-represented and -served communities and organizations in our area.
  • Devoting at least one 5th Saturday FUNdraisers each year to a local organization that works specifically for equality, justice, and/or support of BIPOC communities.
  • Facilitating the donation of funds from each class fee to local Indigenous groups as one act of reciprocity for having our theater on stolen land.
  • Offering free show sponsorships to businesses owned or run by BIPOC and/or marginalized community members to correspond with specific cultural days/months, i.e. Black History Month, Women’s History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Indigenous People’s Day, etc.

Happier Valley Comedy, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that brings laughter, joy, and ease to Western Massachusetts (and the world) through the principles of improvisation. We serve up the happy through our training center, shows, and professional/personal development programs. Happier Valley Comedy is committed to using the tenets of improvisation as a tool to amplify each person’s authentic voice and creativity in an inclusive, welcoming community inspired and empowered by the diversity of all members.
