The Harold is the source of pretty much all the improv formats you know and love. Born in 1967, it's largely credited with creating long form improvisation as we know it today. Yep, it's pretty awesome. This Long Form Advanced Improv class introduces you to the basic elements of the Harold: Openings, Group Games, and Scenic Beats. We'll dive into skills such as recognizing and playing the patterns, establishing group mind, and the beauty of controlled chaos. It all comes together to put our own unique spin on Harold!

"This class is changing me, from week to week. I've discovered an emotional space I enter when I walk in the door - a sort of willingness and curiosity - which brightens when I begin a scene with my fellow improvisers. I step out of my anxiety and indecision, and get to look for something fun in my scene partner. And damn if that isn't carrying over into my social life!"

*Happier Valley Comedy rents land that was stolen from Indigenous people, including the Pocumtuc and Nipmuc tribes. A land acknowledgement is not appropriate or adequate to address this injustice that continues to harm people today. Therefore, we have instituted an ongoing process of contributing to the preservation of the lands and cultures of Northeastern Indigenous Peoples.
