the joy & ease of Improv 4
|
In Improv 4, we immerse ourselves in two-person scenework, the very heart of longform improvisation. We strengthen our scenework muscles, add more tools to our improv tool box, and learn the basics of editing scenes. We also explore questions like: What does true agreement and acceptance feel like? How can I best serve the needs of the show? How can I add to the joy and ease of the scene? Building directly on the previous levels, we explore discovering and holding onto the all-important emotional point of view as the anchor for lovely scenework. Plus, we'll really dig into how to follow the show where it wants to go. Let's get in a lot more of those vital reps too!

About Your Teachers:
Maddy Benjamin performs regularly at Happier Valley Comedy with Not in Charge and Second Saturdays Presents. She got her start in improv as a member of IT (Improvisational Theater), the College of William & Mary's first and least creatively named improv troupe. She has spent the intervening decade as a dedicated improv student, performer, and audience member, often with the loudest laugh in the room.
Scott Braidman is General Manager and Artistic Director of Happier Valley Comedy. Scott started improvising in 2002 with Mission: Improvable at UMass Amherst, and since then he has studied and performed at The iO Theater and One Group Mind in Chicago, The UCB Theatre in New York, and ImprovBoston and Improv Asylum in Boston. He was also an instructor with the ImprovBoston Comedy School. Scott produces and directs all of Happier Valley Comedy's shows as well as teaching Advanced Improv classes and performing with many improvised shows, the most impressive of which is called "Being A Dad", and it isn't a real show, it's just actually being a dad, like, all the time.
Small but Important Fine Print:
