The Joy & ease of Improv:
|
Want to keep learning improv from a purely playful, positive, affirming place?
Not yet ready for or want to take a break from challenging, performance-focused skills in Improv 3 and beyond?
Maybe you just finished Improv 2 and you're thinking "Wait! Slow down! I'm having fun and still getting comfortable!"
Or maybe you’ve been taking improv classes for a while and you’re thinking, “I just want to PLAY every week with a bonded group!”
Are you nodding gleefully?
Then Improv as a Practice is for you!
Improv as a Practice offers a fork in the road for students who want to keep - or return to - the purely playful spirit and skills of Improv 1 and 2, while still progressing by getting lots of practice. Each week, students are guided through improv warm-ups, games, and short scenework strengthening the muscles of positivity, play, acceptance, agreement, being of service, jumping into the unknown, and finding, following, and facilitating the joy and ease in improv.
Improv as a Practice is designed to be taken over and over again. Maybe it's a pause before learning more new material, a return to the basics after taking advanced classes, or a chance for regular mindful playtime in your busy life. Remember, improv is a journey without a destination. This class is an opportunity to stop and smell the roses. Improv as a Practice is fun-first focused! Improv doesn't have to be about the product - improv is a practice!
Prerequisite: Completion of The Joy & Ease of Improv 2

*Happier Valley Comedy rents land that was stolen from Indigenous people, including the Pocumtuc and Nipmuc tribes. A land acknowledgement is not appropriate or adequate to address this injustice that continues to harm people today. Therefore, we have instituted an ongoing process of contributing to the preservation of the lands and cultures of Northeastern Indigenous Peoples. All class fees contain an additional $3 to benefit The Nolumbeka Project, a local nonprofit whose mission is dedicated to these goals.
