Long form SceneWork
|
Take your scene work to the next level! In this class, we will examine the vital ingredients of successful long form improv, with an emphasis on portraying truthful emotions, creating convincing characters, and finding your unique improv voice. We will dive into listening, physicality, heightening, game of the scene, object work, and collaboration as we build authentic and funny scenes of greater complexity. This class focuses on the skills that will allow you to bring out the best in yourself and your scene partners and will prepare you for more advanced long form structures. Whether you are just out of Improv 4 or a seasoned improviser, let’s be serious and silly together!

About Your Teacher:
Katharine Daube is the creator and coordinator of HVC’s Sunday Improv Playdate and an enthusiastic teacher of Improv 2. She currently performs with The Silver Lining and HVC’s Championship Show. She has fallen for improv because of its emphasis on community, growth, risk-taking, and general silliness. In addition to doing improv, Katharine teaches sociology, plays scrabble, and loves an early bedtime.

*Happier Valley Comedy rents land that was stolen from Indigenous people, including the Pocumtuc and Nipmuc tribes. A land acknowledgement is not appropriate or adequate to address this injustice that continues to harm people today. Therefore, we have instituted an ongoing process of contributing to the preservation of the lands and cultures of Northeastern Indigenous Peoples. All class fees contain an additional $3 to benefit The Nolumbeka Project, a local nonprofit whose mission is dedicated to these goals.
