As Mr. Rogers said, “Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.” Play also is an excellent source of connection, socialization, and stress relief. But to the kids, learning improv is simply plain FUN! During our Zoom meeting, Pam leads the kids through several remote-friendly improv games, including at least one demo of an improv-based game that kids can play with their families in order to share the fun and laughter. Virtual Happier Kids Improv is appropriate both for kids who love improv and those who have never heard of improv before but are up for trying something new. Get your giggles ready because there will be LOTS OF LAUGHTER! Self-expression will soar, cheeks will hurt from smiling, and friends will applaud for each other.
Let’s laugh and play!
About Your Teacher: Pam Victor is a professional improviser, facilitator, author, teacher, and the Head of Happiness (aka Founder and President) of Happier Valley Comedy, the first improv theater and training center in Western Massachusetts. Pam is the author of “Baj and the Word Launcher: A Space-Aged Asperger Adventure in Communication” a children’s book that uses sci-fi to teach social and communication skills. Along with legendary improvisers TJ Jagodowski and Dave Pasquesi, Pam is the co-author of “Improvisation at the Speed of Life: The TJ & Dave Book.” Pam is a TEDx speaker who presented the talk “Meet Your Inner Critic (and Tell It to Pipe Down)” in 2019. A graduate of Smith College with a Master’s in Education from Iona College (NY), Pam has received improv training from iO Theater (Chicago), Annoyance Theatre (Chicago), ImprovBoston, and from Second City teachers. Before becoming an improviser, Pam was an elementary school teacher in public and private schools, and she homeschooled her kids in the Pioneer Valley - as well as providing weekly classes for other homeschoolers - for ten years. Pam is a nice person. She likes you already.
